John Wayne Parr locked in for Bellator Kickboxing Debut

Tuesday 28th February 2017

John Wayne Parr is fighting Italian Nando Calzetta on April 8 in Turin.

Legendary Australian muay Thai fighter John Wayne Parr has his first fight of a three-fight contract with Bellator Kickboxing locked in.

After signing with Bellator in mid-2016, and confirmation that the fight would take place in Italy, it was assumed that Parr would likely face kickboxing legend Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan.

In an interview with fightmag.com.au JWP explained that as soon “as I heard I was fighting in Italy I thought for sure my opponent would be Petrosyan”

“It would have been an honour to fight him in his home country” said Parr.

However his opponent was not who everyone had thought (or hoped for) but instead is against Italian Nando Calzetta at 72.5kg. With Giorgio Petrosyan (83-2-2) taking on Amansio Paraschiv (23-5-1) at 70kg.
