Soa Palelei brutally knocked-out Ruan Potts at UFC Fight Night 40 to record his 11th straight win by either KO or TKO. Now 3-0 in his latest UFC tenure, 'The Hulk' feels he truly belongs amongst the world's top heavyweights.
Speaking with MMA Junkie after the fight, the Western Australian talked about the win and what he expects from future fights.
“My last 11 fights have been knockouts, and my ground-and-pound, if I get on top of you, you’re not going anywhere,”said Palelei.
After being cut by the UFC after a loss to Eddie Sanchez back in 2007, Palelei believes he's now well and truly a part of the promotion's roster. With his next opponent yet to be announced, he stated that he would be happy to fight whoever the UFC wanted.
“I was really pushing to get back in the UFC. Now I’m here, and I deserve to be here. I’m going to keep learning, keep pushing and keep climbing up the ranks,” he continued.
“We’ll see what happens with my management team and Joe Silva. Whoever they want me to fight, I’ll fight. I’m here to stay – not for today, but for a long time. I deserve to be here the same as other guys here.”
After taking minimal damage in his fight against Potts, Palelei could potentially be added to the UFC Fight Night 43 card in New Zealand scheduled for June.
